The Standard of a Breed
American - Canadian White Shepherd has a rectangle formate. The right proportion of all its body parts expresses the desired perfection, beauty and especially the noblessness of this breed. Healthy at the first sight, well built and muscled white dog raises a fascinating feeling of beaty of the nature in everyone. The best presentation of White Shepherd is to meet it.
It is temperament, alive, with personality, has strong nerves, but it is not agressive. It is calm and self confident and keeps a natural distance that excludes spontanious friendship with starngers. It is very attractive for its character.
It was imported to our country as a gregarious breed. In our country and abroad, due to its body construction and character it is used as a dog helping blind people, shepherd dog, life guard dog, drug finder, military and guard dog, but it is mainly a faithfull family dog which loves children and is able to do anything for its family.
Head: Very noble, clearly cut and expressive, should be in the right proportion with the body, shouldn´t look heavy. Muzzle is long and strong, lips rigid, dry and closefitting. Jaws strongly developped, no expressive stop.
Eyes: Middle size, almond shape, setted slightly diagonal and not standing out. The colour should preferably be dark, the expression attentive, intelligent and calm.
Ears: Pointed, frontally opened, running into top.
Teeth: Strong teeth, total 42 (20 upper and 22 lower), strongly developed making scissor bite.
Nose leather: Preferably dark, could be lighter according to season and climate.
Chest: Well developed, right depth, frontally curved and strong.
Paws: Short, compact, fingers well curved, arched paws, short nails, preferably dark.
Neck: Strong, muscled, clearly cut, relatively long, no free folds, dry.
Afterbody: Long slightly slopeing down back parts.
Back: Flat, strongly developed, from backtop to afterbody relatively short and strong.
Lower limbs: Wide and well muscled, femur paralel with scapula. Tibia paralel humerus.
Tail: Hanging down, slightly curved.
Testicles: Both must be in testes.
Walking: Charakteristic light, dynamic and confident walk.
Backtop: Female 56 to 61 cm, male 61 to 66 cm, 1 cm tolerated.
Colour: Clear white without spots.
Hair: Short, thick (short-hair variety) or medium long (long-hair variety). Cover hair is thick enough, short on head, the front side of limbs, on paws and fingers. Hair is longer and richer on the neck.
Dysplasy of hyp joint: For breeding - males - 1/1 and lower, - females - 2/2 and lower.
